Dry Needling

Dry Needling at Peak Pilates

Dry needling is a technique that specially trained physiotherapists use to treat myofascial pain. The technique uses a “dry” needle (one without medication or injection) inserted through the skin into areas of the muscle known as trigger points. Dry needling can sometimes be referred to as trigger point dry needling, or intramuscular manual therapy/stimulation. Dry needling is not acupuncture, however (acupuncture may follow a western or eastern path); it is more of a subcategory of western acupuncture, and follows the modern western acupuncture principles and is supported by extensive research.
