We want to make choosing a Peak Pilates class easy so we have put together the most common questions we are asked.
How do I get started?
We want to make sure you get the most benefit out of your Peak Pilates group sessions, so we do require participants to complete an Introductory one-on-one session before taking part in any group class.
In this Pilates session, your instructor will go over muscle activation, positioning, and the types of Pilates classes offered here at Peak. During your intro you will also have an opportunity to go through a wide variety of Pilates exercises, both on the mat and on the reformer machines, and discuss any concerns you may have with an instructor before joining classes. This session can be with a physiotherapist if you have any past or present injuries. Our physiotherapist will be able to teach you how you may need to modify some of the exercises in class. Both our instructors and physios can discuss which class type is best for you, or even if private sessions may be more appropriate to help you achieve your fitness goals. This no-obligation introductory session is the best way to get a taste test of Pilates & find out which options will be best for you when taking the next step.
How much does a Peak Pilates membership cost?
We want you to achieve the best results with our Peak Pilates classes, and so we have designed Pilates sessions for you to use that do not lock you into memberships and nor are you expected to join in and figure it all out by yourself. For this reason we have put together classes and sessions that cater to your individual needs, whether you want to join in a class on a casual basis, take a private session, or use a concession card to book the classes you are interested in on a when and where basis. We have eight locations throughout Auckland, including as far South as Botany and as far North as Millwater.
Private Pilates sessions are specifically tailored to meet your needs and goals.
An introductory session is $92 with an Instructor and $108 with a physiotherapist. We have casual rates for our classes ($43.00 per mat class, $50.00 per Reformer class). The majority of our clients prefer our concession cards, which are a block of ten classes at a special price. A concession card of 10 mat classes is $235.00 and a reformer concession card is $390. Spin and Combo classes are all at the reformer price. Student & Pensioner discounts are also available.
What should I wear to my first Pilates session?
We would like you to feel comfortable in your sessions and classes, so please wear what makes you feel comfortable, something you can move and stretch in. You will need a pair of socks, as you will not be wearing shoes.
How should I prepare for the first Pilates session?
Please arrive 10 minutes early for your first session to complete registration.
Should I eat before or after my Pilates class?
Make sure your stomach is neither full nor empty. Bring a bottle of water so you stay hydrated.
What if I am not supple or fit?
You can work at your own level, and your Pilates instructor will help you to progress at your own level whilst making sure that you are comfortable with your individual progress. You do not need to feel pressured by what others are doing.
Do you provide everything I need?
Exercise mats and equipment are provided but you are welcome to bring your own mat.
Can I ask questions during the class?
Feel free to ask questions but try not to talk to other students during the class as it can be distracting.
What if I am a bit late?
Classes will start on time so please be prompt as latecomers disturb others.
How will I feel after the session?
Most people report a feeling of being energised and relaxed, with a greater body awareness and insight into good postural alignment. Some have even described feeling “taller”.
